CAMP
DIRECTOR :
"In March, 2002, I attended the New England Section of
the American Camping Association's annual conference in Manchester,
NH, and heard a presentation by Allan Shulman on the Yello
Dyno child abuse prevention program. The program which Allan
described and showed sample video clips from, appeared to
be well geared to elementary school age children, and I could
see where the hip music and lyrics would leave lasting impressions
on the kids. I was most impressed, however, by Allan's low
key, calm, non-sensational, yet very frank and explicit, approach
to dealing with staff training and with investigations of
molestation in the camp setting. He appeared to be the classic
crisis manager. (My background includes camp counseling, a
career in public school teaching and administration, and a
retirement role as member of a board of directors of a local
4-H camp.)" Edward P. Yaglou, Barre, Maine
CAMP
COUNSELORS : "Great presentation! Eye
opening statistics. Good advice on how to handle ourselves
when working with children."
"I liked the reference to real situations and cases of
sexual abuse and how, we as councilors can detect and handle
these situations. "
"Allan did a great job with the overheads and the music.
I could have listened for another hour."
"The presentation was clear and understandable. I enjoyed
the slides and music as well as the examples used to reinforce
statements and facts. The speaker was excellent."
"I learned
a lot. I thought the presentation was clear and extremely
useful. This is an issue that must be talked about with children.
The workshop provided informative and helpful tips and suggestions."
